DR. TILLMANN LAUK

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Born in 1955 in Stuttgart, Germany, Dr. Tillmann Lauk is married with three children. He studied law and Protestant theology and later earned a postgraduate degree from Columbia Law and Business School in New York as a Fulbright Scholar.

Dr. Lauk began his career with six years at The Boston Consulting Group before moving into various executive roles within the German industry. He also served as a member of the Global Executive Board of Deutsche Bank.

As the founder and CEO of a venture capital fund, Dr. Lauk played a pivotal role in leading the fund’s investment in SuSE Linux AG in 2001. After a successful restructuring, SuSE Linux was sold to Novell Inc. in 2003/2004 for USD 220 million, achieving a fourfold return on the initial investment. The fund was recognized by the European Venture Capital Association (EVCA) with the award for “Best Technology Exit of the Year behind Yell” in 2003.

In addition to his business achievements, Dr. Lauk is the author of the book “The Triple Crisis of Western Capitalism – Democracy, Banking, and Currency” (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2014), which explores key challenges facing modern capitalism.

Currently, Dr. Lauk continues to develop a variety of academic and business ventures.
